Say Cheese

I've been so focused on creating cards for Operation Write Home that I forgot to post this little fellow before mailing him off to Washington last week.  Luckily I snapped a few photos as reference along the way!  Gerda's images always bring smiles so sharing that sentiment seemed appropriate.   I'll be entering him in the June/July 6 week challenge

Gothic Owlette

Trying my hand at some night time coloring for the current Tiddly Inks challenge.

I used a spectrum noir gray scale tutorial to achieve the night time shadows with my Ice Gray alcohol markers.   Then I added in a little color using my prisma color pencils.  The night sky is a combination of black, indigo blue, violet and blue violet blended with baby oil.  The colors are much darker and less vibrant in person.

Banner Time!

This month's OWH Mid-Month Throwdown is all about banners.

I've just mailed off a box of 135 cards to this wonderful organization.  For my final box (all shipments must be received no later than August 1, 2015) I challenged myself to use up an entire 6x6 pad of paper utilizing Kristie's latest tutorial doodlebug's happy camper 6x6 cards.

This is the first card utilizing a sketch from My Favorite Things MFTWSC227.  (Did you know you can find all of MFT sketches on their printable resources page?)  I added some washi tape that coordinated well with my Dylusion's Clearly the Right Words sentiment.

Revisiting Geriann's Card Camp

Have I told you what a fabulous teacher Gerriann Armstrong scrapandstampcreations.blogspot.com  is?  Checkout her Ustream class Mondays at 6pm PST.  Whenever I get in a jam for cards I return to one of her 12x12 cutting guides & my CTMH Make It From Your Heart Vol 1 & 2 and voila 12 totally individual cards for any occasion!

You just can't go wrong with Graphic 45!
These are a few sheets from Come Away With Me with assorted sentiment stamps.

This stack of cards is headed for OWH -Finishing Strong.  I know seems like I've been working on it for weeks (because I have). There are currently 106 cards completed but I still have room for more!

Random Stamping: Round 2

I did a lot of coloring yesterday to finish up those card bases generated by the OSW of my random stamped page.  I'll be adding these cards to my OWH Finishing Strong Campaign box.  I'm trying really hard to get this one mailed by June 15th so that I have time to send another before the August 1 deadline.

I pulled this little guy aside to enter in the Miss You: June ODBD Challenge

In case you didn't see the earlier post, here's the random stamped page before card assembly.

Sorry about the photo quality.  My daughter will be teaching me how to use the new light box once it arrives.

CTMH It's the Little Things

I had chosen the solid cardstock before stamping, then pieced together a few coordinating scraps left over from a prior project to make a couple of the card bases. I really enjoy the freedom of stamping and/or coloring your focal images to match a card.  I realize now that attempting to match patterned paper to existing images or embellishments had been a constant frustration for me.

And now for the rest of those cards...

Just a Little Random Stamping: CTMH Pinterest Inspirations

I'm making progress on that box of cards for the OWH Finishing Strong Campaign!!  Dug out a couple of those OSW cutting guides from Split Coast Stampers, took a deep breath and began this sweet little dance.  Random Stamping Tutorial

Earlier this year Geriann at Scrap and Stamp Creations taught a fabulous class she dubbed bandanna stamping using the CTMH A Happy Hello.

Scrap and Stamp Creations

I recently discovered that I can manage to random stamp on an 8 1/2 x 11 white page.  (Somehow that 12x12 blank page is still a bit daunting).   Sorry I forgot to snap a photo of the random stamped page before all the pieces were cut up on this one.  Here are the 8 cards generated from that page.

I'm building up my confidence now... so on to my second set of cards!!
Here's another 8 1/2 x 11 randomly stamped page using CTMH It's the Little Things
I'll be posting photos of the cards I made soon.

Inspired by Pinterest #1

Pinterest?!? I know right?  Well you know those peeps who encouraged me to start a blog actually suggested Pinterest first.  So I finally started a couple of boards for card inspiration and such.

Today I took a break from the world of digi stamps to play with a few new ideas.  Don't know how many I'll actually post, but here's my first attempt to show you the original pin followed by my interpretation.

My Interpretation:

Using the color palette from the current  MFT Color Challenge

I'm quite pleased with this card considering I don't own any of the Stampin Up products shown in the tutorial linked above.  However I recently purchased the Fiskars butterfly punch and a handful of small Darice embossing folders.  Can't say as I would have ever considered using them together in this manner without Ms. Wheatley's beautiful card for inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by.
